Sweetheart
—————-
Come February, and we think about Love. The most celebrated day of Love – The Valentine’s Day falls on the 14th of this month. Everywhere one sees and is constantly reminded of Love. It’s like Love is in the air and everyone can feel it. With the images that hoard for attention through print and tele-vision media, we are reminded of our loved ones. We all long for that loved one who has filled our heart with warmth. The one who constantly stays in our hearts – The Sweetheart.
There is one more person who longs for us and we also long for that person. And that person rightly resides in our own very heart.
Sarvasya caham hrdi sannivisto[BG 15.15]. Sri Krishna declares this to Arjuna that I stay in the heart of all living beings. And unlike others, He has not re-cently entered our heart, but has been there with us since time immemorial.
Krishna, as supersoul, enters the heart of every living being. And it is through Him that all the desires of the living entity are satisfied.
This particular sweetheart accompanies us in all situations. Generally in the unions of this world the two lovers vow to be together in sickness or in health and any such conditions till death do them part. But Krishna loves us so much
that he accompanies us even beyond death. Krishna’s love is pure and without mo-tive. He does not expect anything in return from us, but always wants to give us the benefit. He is our ever well-wisher. This is again reaffirmed by Krishna in Bha-gavad Gita in Chapter 5, Verse 29:
suhrdam sarva-bhutanam jnatva mam shantim rchhati
I am the benefactor of all living entities and knowing this one can attain peace.
So we accept it or not, but Krishna has taken to our heart as his residence
and is not ready to leave us for anything. And actually this is not a bad bargain. Because this sweetheart is incomparably attractive. Krishna – means “The All Attractive”. The root of word Krishna is Karshan – attrac-tion. Krishna is attractive because His beauty is unlimited and so are His knowledge, wealth, power, fame and renunciation too.
Not only He stays in our heart, but even His dear devotees are his very life and soul.
