You came, you swapped, you saved the earth
Thank you to all the hundreds of people who came to swap their own electricity-guzzling light bulbs with swanky new energy-saving lights. We’re very touched that you took the trouble to come down with your old bulbs.
We had one gentleman who went around knocking on his neighbours’ doors to collect old bulbs. He came to us with 36. And the Fairmont Hotel sent a staffer with 50 bulbs! Yay, Fairmont. Others came on foot, one guy came on a bicycle. Talk about environmentally conscious. We even handed bulbs to some police officers.
We were surprised that there were folks who didn’t know what an energy-saving bulb was. And we were surprised that so many had no idea it was Earth Day. A funny moment was when I asked some boys, “Do you know what today is?” and they responded hesitantly, “Tuesday?”
Well, I’m glad we had a chance to enlightened (pardon the pun) some Singaporeans about saving the earth. But it just goes to show how much more we have to educate the community about doing the small things that can make a difference. As always, you can start by browsing through the Green Living category on Yahoo! Answers and learning how each of us can do our part for the planet.
One earth only, let’s protect it!
Greenly yours,
