Remembering ‘The King of Pop’

Michael Jackson — the child star who rose to become the ‘King of Pop’ — has passed away, leaving thousands of fans in disbelief.
As the world comes to terms with the death of a pop culture icon, many of us cannot help but look back at his life and say he may have died before his time was over.
But to be able to understand just what kind of an impact Michael Jackson had on the world, we would have to go all back to the 1980s.
Michael Jackson was the first African-American star of the MTV generation, with record sales for ‘Thriller’ and number one hits like ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Beat It’. He was on of the world’s most beloved figure at the height of his fame, and the mere mention of his name could make people do the ‘moonwalk’.
Almost everyone adored Michael Jackson, and his celebrity was staggering.
Michael’s music and influence cut across music genres and extends to this new generation of artists like Justin Timberlake.
Sadly, Michael’s passing came just as he celebrated the 25th anniversary of ‘Thriller’– one of the best-selling albums (and music videos) of all time, and a show in London scheduled in a few weeks.
Michael Jackson will surely be missed, but fans will always have the legacy of his music to come back to.

I must have watched moonwalker a zillion times when I was a kid. Even went to his concert when he came to Singapore. Watching all these videos on tv now really bring back all those wonderful memories. Hope this brillliant entertainer found some happiness in his life.

All i have to say is a great singer and dancer have left us,but his songs will never die to the new genaration. I was a dancermaster too and i have use his movment to teach my dancers puls with his step in Indian songs, its welcome by the teenagers something new. This happen year from 80s to 90s.We all pray to the good soul may god give me a place in the heaven bec he had done alot of good things to the poor and children he is another MGR in Los Angeles country, bec in India there was a MGR Late C.M. of Tamil nadu for 10 years who help poor people who stay in village and Children to have free food and study, we hope they meet in heaven, god bless the soul.

Micheal Jackson has inspired me all my childhood life, I felt so saddened of his sudden death and his songs will live on, from generation to generation because he was a great legend.

If there is one western artiste that I had great regard in terms of his contribution was Michael Jackson! He has introduced a new genre in music called Pop and in dance called break dance. Both his music and dance were flawless, making a strong impression in every move! Its tough to get even our family members to follow us….and he had the whole music community following him under his wallow! He might have had too much distraction on his private life…but its something what most of the people of his caliber would suffer: Something to deplete his extra energy! But his service to music and dance community is unfathomable…and let his soul rest in peace!

I was driving my hubby to his office and after he alighted, it was when I heard the news on radio. I was caught off guard and for a moment couldn’t believe my ears. What?! Michael Jackson is dead?!!!
My hubby and I loved his songs and dance moves. He was so talented and unique. He was truly a superstar of all stars in our time.

My fav’ MJ song is “Ben” and still is even though his later songs were hits after hits. The voice was so innocent when he sang Ben and that was when I started to listen to the then Jacksons 5 and then to MJ. He is still the greatest and we will never have another megastar like MJ. May he R.I.P.P (rest in perfect peace).

My very first cassette that I bought when I was a kid was Michael Jackson’s Dangerous album. I played it nonstop! He was a great singer and dancer. Not only that, but he also revolutionized the culture of pop: his insane dance moves, music, and style. He will always be remembered for his moonwalk and awesome songs like beat it, thriller, and smooth criminal.Despite the scandals that shadowed his life, I truly believe he had a good soul and cared for people.
